About Our Courses

Promoting boating safety is the job of the

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

For Portland, Maine and Surrounding Areas

The Casco Bay Flotilla presents, throughout the year, most of the courses that are offered by the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. We do this in conjunction with Southern Maine Community College's -   Non-Credit Courses. Our classes start at the college in January and September of each year. The college starts taking registration on the first Monday of December for courses that start in January and the first Monday in August for courses that start in September at 207- 741- 5800 or 207-741- 5758 and registration remains open through the second nights class. Click Here to go the SMCC Registration Page for more information.   We offer Advanced Coastal Navigation and Boating Skills and Seamanship at the college.    January 2009 we will be adding Sailing Skills & Seamanship to our course offerings at the college.  It will only be presented January semesters at the college.

We also offer a shorter version of  Boating Skills and Seamanship in the late spring in other locations.   You can check our Course Start Dates page early  March for more information on these late spring courses.

The  America's Boating Course oriented toward hunters, anglers, and beginning boaters who need to do home study is now in stock and can be ordered by contacting the Webmaster.

Clicking on any  of the course links above will get you  a detailed description of each course which will open in a new window.  Just close the window to return to this website.
