Casco Bay Flotilla has 4 safe boating  courses that are offered by the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. They can be categorize as Basic, Better and Best.

Our Basic course is Introduction To Basic Boating Safety  and is a seminar held on Zoom. This course only skims through really basic boating safety information. It's a 2 night 2 hours each course. Our Better course is the Boat America course. If you are looking for a course that meet the State Of Maine new requirement of having a NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) Boating Safety Certificate then this is the course for you. Depending on when it is offered this course could be a 1 session course of 8 hours, a 2 session course of 4 hours, or a 4 session course of 2 hours each. This is the only course that we offer that the State of Maine will accept for their certificate requirements. Our Best courses are Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) and Sailing Skills & Seamanship (SS&S).  These two course 12 and 14 weeks long and contain in depth  boating safety information. Like the course title say, BS&S is a Power Boating course and SS&S is a Sailing course. Students enrolled in the SS&S course will also be enrolled in BS&S and when that is done will continue on with the Sailing part of the course. As of 6 September 2024 Boating Skill and Seamanship is no longer a NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) course.  These two courses are held in person in conjunction with Southern Maine Community College's  Business and Community Division. Please Note: "In the event of a cancellation of one or more public education classes, due to circumstances beyond the control of the Casco Bay Flotilla, a good faith effort will be made to make up those classes missed or cancelled. If necessary, at our discretion, we may be forced to cancel the course completely. However, in no event will there be any refunds of all or part of the tuition."
